Growth-focused Key Account Manager | $150k+ OTE | Hospitality Supply
Own and Grow Your Territory.
Take ownership of a high-potential region for a NZ-owned hospitality-supply business with 25 years behind it, next-day delivery nationwide, and a reputation that opens doors before you knock.
Our client is looking for a commercially sharp, relationship-first Key Account Manager to take ownership of the Queenstown, Wanaka Lakes and Otago territory, one of the fastest-growing hospitality markets outside of Auckland. The long-term goal for this role is clear: become the preferred supplier in 80% of hotels and motels across the region.
You’ll be given a sizeable existing account base to work with, backed by a strong fulfillment and support team making sure every commitment you make to a customer gets delivered on. You’ll be trusted to manage your territory with autonomy, and will be supported by a people-first sales director who leads with trust and practical guidance.
If you’re a high-performing account manager who’ll enjoy being on the road in some of the most stunning scenery in the world, turning existing accounts into growth engines, and building lasting relationships, this is the role for you.
What’s In It for You?
Generous six-figure base + 4% Kiwi Saver
$150k+ OTE with uncapped commission at 75% of target
Fully maintained company vehicle (FMCV)
Work laptop and phone provided
Hybrid flexibility: 3-4 days on the road, 1-2 days in the office / WFH
Ongoing investment in your training and development
Future career pathway including potential progression to sales manager for the right candidate
Monthly Team Champion nominations, annual team gatherings, milestone-based rewards
Birthday and work anniversary celebrated, plus a paid Day of Significance each year
What Will You Be Doing?
Queenstown, Wanaka Lakes and Otago is your territory. You’ll be handed an established account base of ~120 existing customers with 20% revenue growth potential already sitting inside it. The role is approximately 75% account management focused on growing share of wallet, and 25% generating new business. There’s a structured 90-day ramp-up period so you can securely build relationships first before targets come into effect.
You’ll be:
Managing and growing a portfolio of ~120 existing hospitality accounts across the region
Rebuilding structure and discipline into accounts that have declined in spend - identifying why and implementing clear recovery plans
Increasing share of wallet across high-potential accounts by at least 5%
Targeting new business opportunities across hotels, motels, resorts and accommodation groups (new hotel = new business, even within the same group)
Building trusted relationships with both site-level and head-office contacts
Using CRM consistently to manage activity, pipeline, call cycles and strategic account plans
Planning your territory effectively to maximise Return-On-Time for field visits, call cycles and admin time
What’s the Culture Like?
Practical, customer-obsessed and driven to succeed. There is excellent staff tenure, and remote staff are not neglected. The sales team are flown in from around NZ to support face-to-face connection once a quarter. The team celebrates wins no matter how big or small. The business goes above and beyond to make sure customers are happy, and they expect the same from the people they hire.
Who Will Succeed in This Role?
This role will not suit a desk-based account manager who avoids travel, relies on relationships without structure, or needs daily direction. It will suit a self-starter who takes ownership, follows through consistently and knows how to turn a territory into a revenue growth engine. We’re looking for someone who:
Is motivated by customer outcomes rather than individual transactions
Has proven past success with growing existing accounts
Is proactive, disciplined and strong at territory planning, account segmentation and CRM hygiene
Is happy being on the road 3–4 days a week and comfortable working autonomously
Is flexible and willing to go above and beyond when the customer needs it
Is well presented so they can professionally represent the brand
Minimum 3 years’ B2B sales experience
Past experience selling into hotels, resorts, motels, accommodation groups, facilities, cleaning, catering, consumables or hospitality supply would be highly regarded.
